     Teacher, Mr Coffey, leads a group of Transition Year students across the Wicklow mountains overlooking Glendalough on a recent trek as part of their 'An Gaisce' awards.                                           After a very welcome mid term break school resumed in pleasant spring conditions last Monday. The school year is, as ever, racing past and with 'Mocks' done and dusted, the Orals and practical elements of subjects now loom large. With only 5 weeks to Easter and a further 7 thereafter to the Summer break, the minds are sharply focused on the work that lies ahead. Continue Reading...

First year students were treated to a reading and a visit from novelist Dermot Bolger on Friday 27th Jan. The boys are studying the novel in their English class. This is Dermot's first novel for teenagers. He said he wanted to write a novel for his sons before they got too old. The novel is set in Dublin and it features teenage struggles, changelings and strange happenings in the Hell Fire Club.  Continue Reading...

Young Social Innovators

As part of their Young Social Innovators project based on Diet and Exercise in sport, TY2 recently invited a number of high profile sportsmen, all past pupils of the school, to come in and address the Transition Year students about their practices in terms of the diet they follow.        Seat dedicated to the memory of late colleague and friend, Tom Walsh                                                     In a busy week during which the Mock Examinations strated on Wednesday, there were Parent/Teacher meetings for 5th and 2nd years on Friday and Monday last respectively. There was also an information night for parents of 3rd years and TY students on programme options and subject choices for next year; this was held in the school church on Wednesday night. In addition the Assessment Day for incoming 1st Years, Sept. 2012, takes place on Saturday next as per details sent out to those concerned.  Continue Reading...
